Developer tooling around Codex, Ollama cloud, and local LLM deployment saw significant activity.

Key Events

Analysis

Patterns & Trends

Model releases accelerating: The 24-hour window saw three major model drops (GPT-5.5, DeepSeek V4, Hermes update) alongside active Qwen 3.6 discussions. The open-source frontier is closing rapidly—DeepSeek V4 Pro benchmarks trade blows with Claude Opus 4.6 and GPT-5.4, while being fully downloadable.

Efficiency gains emphasized: Multiple posts highlight GPT-5.5's token efficiency (fewer rounds/tokens per task) and Qwen 3.6's ability to run on consumer hardware. The narrative is shifting from raw capability to cost-effectiveness.

Agent framework competition heating up: Hermes Agent's major update (700+ PRs, unlimited subagent recursion) and OpenAI's Codex expansion into enterprise signal intensifying competition in AI agent infrastructure.

Hardware diversification: DeepSeek V4 trained on Huawei Ascend, Qwen 3.6 running on RTX 3090s, and Ollama's DGX Spark mentions indicate a move toward hardware-agnostic deployment.

Local AI maturing: Reports of Qwen 3.6 27B running autonomously (building, testing, debugging code) on single 3090 GPUs represent a significant step in local agent capabilities.

GPT-5.5 & OpenAI

@gdb · 2026-04-24T18:33

just launched GPT-5.5 in our API, please enjoy! →

@gdb · 2026-04-23T19:34

we're rolling codex out to whole companies/enterprises. ping me gdb@openai.com if of interest! →

@gdb · 2026-04-23T18:51

Codex + 5.5 is incredible for the full spectrum of computer use. No longer just for coders, but for anyone who does computer work (including creating spreadsheets, slides, etc). →

@gdb · 2026-04-24T01:34

auto-review now live in codex — using a guardian agent to evaluate the safety of proposed actions, reducing human approvals to only when they're really needed. →

@TheAhmadOsman · 2026-04-23T19:25

GPT-5.5 just dropped TL;DR: This is another o1 / o3 moment - Shorter, more human, actual personality - Clearly pushing into personal agents (OpenClaw) - Higher info / Token density → Cheaper to reach GPT-5.4-level intelligence It codes different: - Less bloat - Cleaner, readable output Codex: - Frontier agentic coding - Backend > Claude Opus 4.6 - Give it specs and it will build it - Handles large codebases, long runs, visual iteration loops GPT-5.5 Pro: - Does 30-90 min runs cohesively like it's nothing - Writes full docs, uses tools well - Can solve basically anything Tradeoffs: - Slower than Opus - More expensive per token - (but more efficient overall) GPT-5.5 is the new bar →

@sama · 2026-04-23T19:21

We tried a new thing with NVIDIA to roll out Codex across a whole company and it was awesome to see it work. Let us know if you'd like to do it at your company! →

@nummanali · 2026-04-24T08:18

From November (Opus 4.5 release) up to the April, I recommended folks use Claude for general use, increasingly so given Cowork My opinion is now changed - GPT 5.5 and the new Codex app is much more capable for all skill levels Simply open the app and speak to it, it will tell you everything it can do and how it can help you →

@nummanali · 2026-04-24T07:25

GPT 5.5 is autonomies best friend With very little guidance, I told it to continue working on A > B > C etc It's continuously worked on MLX optimization in TypeScript for 10+ hours And has smoothly moved on to building an inference engine in Responses API Marvelous! →

@nummanali · 2026-04-24T08:03

I'll just leave this here The code is very good Well done GPT 5.5 →

looks like deepseek v4 needs a bit of work when it comes to massaging the raw model output to openai completions output... →

@badlogicgames · 2026-04-24T17:06

hey @deepseek_ai, love v4, but may i kindly suggest you add an empty reasoning_content to assistant messages on the backend side instead of forcing every harness in existance to do this? →

Qwen / Local AI / Hardware

@sudoingX · 2026-04-23T20:23

first test results are in. qwen 3.6 27b dense just banged 10 out of 10 on a single rtx 3090 24gb tier at 40 tok/s. no quant tricks. no fused kernels. just q4_k_m straight cut on llama.cpp. i wrote a particle swarm benchmark this morning, fed it the prompt, and the model autonomously built a 500 particle boids flocking system. velocity driven hue, density based brightness, trail blend rendering, mouse attraction physics, click bursts, drag paint. then it used browser automation to test its own work, found the failing tests, iterated through the code, patched tests.js, and landed all 10 green on its own. →

@TheAhmadOsman · 2026-04-23T22:50

I am in awe of what Qwen 3.6 27B is capable of doing locally on 2x RTX 3090s If you told me in 2023, when I was running Dolphin finetunes at 4k/8k context (on the same 3090 GPUs) That this level of performance would be possible in 2026 ... I am not sure I would've believed you →

My local intelligence model (Qwen3.6-35B-A3B-PRISM-MLX-NVFP4) is currently vetting a research direction I'm working on - re-reading research paper sources, computing attention weight calculations, verifying architecture parameter counts, what would normally take me hours of pre-prep, done in minutes. AI Research & Benchmarks

@TrungTPhan · 2026-04-24T15:30

Nvidia's Chief Scienst Bill Dally at GTC explained how Nvidia uses AI to speed up the chip design process: ▫️trained an LLM on all proprietary internal Nvidia docs over past 30+ years (junior employees query it instead of interrupting senior designers) ▫️one AI tool ports Nvidia's cell library to a new semiconductor process and does it in only one night (used to take 10 employees up to 8 months, or 80 total person-months) ▫️since the 1950s, there's been a classic chip design problem of where to place look ahead stages in a chain (AI is coming up with solutions using "bizarre designs thay no human" would think of) ▫️agentic AI systems are doing a ton of exploration…testing parameters spaces…suggesting new approaches…running architecture experiments ▫️verification process is laborious but AI able to do it at fraction of time (compresses time from design to tape-out, with TSMC making chip) →

Dunking on LinkedIn seemed to me just low-effort engagement bait on X. But oh my god, it really is true. It's drowning in AI-generated tech-babble. Look at this post from LeCun (below). The top response is some victim of AI sycophancy under the delusion he discovered the essence of the universe. Then there's this other guy who replies with a rephrase of every single comment. It's not even the dead Internet theory anymore, it's the dead Internet reality. →
