Executive Summary
Russian forces conducted massive aerial assaults across Ukraine over the past 24 hours, heavily targeting Odesa, Kharkiv, and Zhytomyr with ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones, resulting in civilian casualties and severe damage to energy and port infrastructure. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces continued effective deep strikes, reportedly destroying an S-400 air defense system and a counter-Starlink electronic warfare system in Russia's Krasnodar Krai, while achieving localized territorial gains near Komar. On the diplomatic front, tensions flared as Bulgaria summoned Ukraine's ambassador over a drone incident, Kosovo removed the Ukrainian flag following Zelensky's visit to Serbia, and protests against anti-Ukrainian sentiment swept Polish cities. Despite the ongoing onslaught, Ukrainian morale remains resilient, and Kyiv announced significant procurement deals and domestic production plans for advanced weaponry.

Analysis
The past 24 hours underscore a persistent pattern of Russian escalation targeting Ukrainian civilian and energy infrastructure ahead of winter, alongside a massive drone and missile bombardment campaign. Ukraine's deep-strike capabilities are proving increasingly effective at degrading high-value Russian targets, such as the S-400 system and the newly unveiled counter-Starlink EW system in Gelendzhik, indicating a continued emphasis on shaping operations behind enemy lines. Diplomatically, the war's spillover effects are creating friction with neighboring and partner states, evidenced by the drone incident in Bulgaria and the diplomatic awkwardness with Kosovo. However, Ukraine is actively mitigating ammunition shortfalls through alternative procurement channels like the deal with Turkey, while public opinion polls show that Ukrainian resolve remains robust, with a majority prepared to endure a prolonged conflict. Watch next for potential Russian retaliation following the Gelendzhik strikes and further developments in Ukraine's domestic missile production capabilities.

→ tweet link
